TRICIA:

- The Red Head.

- Currently unemployed writer with a Masters in Screenwriting from a top film school.  Awesome.

- Single with a capital “S”!  Hoping this trip will help her move on from bad boys and foolish crushes.

- Just turned 30 and now knows mid-life crises are happening earlier and earlier these days.

- Is the creator/writer of this little blog.

JESSICA:

- The Blonde.

- Music biz whiz.  Lost her big-time job this summer and decided to try her hand at starting her own company.  Contemplating a move to…guess…Australia.

- Not so single.  Started dating an American who (normally) lives in Australia a few months back.  Hasn’t f-d it up yet (yay!).  But now he’s moving back to Sydney…and might leave LA while we’re already in Oz.  Jessica also has an ex who lives in Sydney.  This will be interesting…

- If I told you her age I’m 99% sure she’d kill me.  I’m not kidding.  Even though she looks 22…

Tricia & Jessica: A Very Brief  History…

- Lived together as roommates in LA for almost 7 years…and still actually like each other.  In some states they may be considered common law married (scary, I know).  This past year they both got their own apartments they couldn’t afford because it seemed about that time to “grow up” and live like real adults.  Boy was that a mistake.  They’re pretty much like sisters, which means they will tell each other the ugly truths they really don’t want to hear.

- Did everything wrong when they first moved to LA…so much so that they joked about writing a book, “What Not To Do As an LA Transplant”.

- Almost never made it back into the U.S. after a birthday party weekend in Mexico due to ridiculous border officials who perhaps thought they might be drug mules.  As if our lives were ever that interesting.

- Booked a one-week trip to Sydney back in March due to cheap airline tix and the need for an out of country/belated 30th b-day celebration for Tricia.  Due to the crap economy and extenuating life and work circumstances they both decided extending the trip, quitting their day jobs, and backpacking around the country was much better than facing reality.

- Tricia tells people she’s researching a concept for a green travel show abroad and perhaps starting a novel.  This is all true, though she has no idea how she’s going to sell a friggin travel show since her best TV contact made her write web/mobile shorts called “Stoner Turtles.”  Jessica has a sweet job interview in Sydney on day number 3.  She wins.

Regardless, we’ll see how 19 hour bus rides, no hair straightening irons, and sleeping in noisy hostels goes for two LA girls…
